Jiuzhaigou Valley (Nine Village Valley) is definitely one of the most amazing places on Earth. Located in northern Sichuan province, on the edge of the Tibetan Plateau, it is China’s national park and a nature reserve.

The location was barely known for outsiders. It was used for extracting wood until Chinese government announced it a national park in 1982. The park is one of the most-visited tourist attractions in China ever since. The tourism impact on environment concerns the nature preservation organizations.

The lakes and waterfalls are the most attractive sightseeing. The color of the water varies from crystal clear, blue, green to turquoise. Some of the waterfalls, like The Pearl Waterfall, are the most unique and impressive. The water has an important spiritual role in the area and even inspires the enchanting folktales.

The valley is rich with many endemic plants. The mixed forests turn into green, yellow, orange and red picturesque landscape in autumn. Therefore, it is the most popular season to visit Jiuzhaigou. There are also many rare bird species, as well as mammals. Giant panda and golden snub-nosed monkey get the most attention from the environmentalists, since they are endangered.

The valley is protected by UNESCO, World Biosphere Reserve and IUCN.
